Aquatic
Services was formed as a
DBA by S. Darrell Commander on July 20, 1979, during his second year of graduate study in Aquatic Biology at Lamar University.
The small business venture was developed primarily to fill a need for
environmental consulting services in East and Southeast Texas.
During the 1980´s, the business expanded into environmental testing and
drilling as equipment was added to construct groundwater monitoring
wells. By 1988, however, over half of the company's income was
being generated from activities involving control systems and
instrumentation for water and wastewater treatment works, which remains
the company's focus to this day.
Mr.
Commander possesses a unique set of skills and qualifications, including
a B.S. and M.S. in Aquatic Biology, Class A Water and Wastewater Operator's Certificates,
and has held licenses or certifications in the following categories:
Professional Sanitarian, Texas Water Well Driller/Pump
Installer, Licensed Irrigator, and Registered Medical Technologist
(ASCP.) In addition, Mr. Commander has amassed extensive industry
experience in process instrumentation through employment at such
companies as Kellogg Brown & Root and Rosemount. Mr. Commander
also spent many years working for the Texas Water Quality Board (the
predecessor to the TCEQ) as a field
investigator, monitoring water quality and inspecting treatment
facilities.
It
is these unique skills that make Aquatic Services
such a versatile water technology company, providing a full range of
services to small- and medium-sized municipal and industrial treatment
plants.
Today,
Aquatic Services fills a very unique role in its services to municipalities, water districts, and small industries throughout East Texas.
Aquatic Services has grown in both its capabilities and
the scope of its operations since its humble beginnings, but it has always maintained its commitment to provide clients with
uncompromising workmanship at the most reasonable cost possible.
